Botafogo were sent packing after losing 3-1 to Paraguay's Cerra Porteno Wednesday in the return leg of South American Cup quarterfinals.

Cerra Porteno jumped to the lead through Nunez in the 56th minute before Botafogo responded in the 72nd minute when Andre Lima cleaned up a loose ball.

However, Cerra Porteno scored two more goals in the 87th minute from Irrazabel and Caceres in stoppage time.

The Paraguayan side will wait for the winner of Thursday's game between Fluminense and the University of Chile.

Botafogo now turn their full attention to the Brazilian Championship where they stand in the 16th with 38 points. They host Coritiba on Sunday at the Engenhao stadium in the 34th round.
