Real Madrid will look to make good one of the most humiliating nights in its long history when Alcorcon visits the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday night.
Two weeks ago Alcorcon, which plays in the third tier, Segunda B, in Spanish football inflicted a 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid in the first leg of their Kings Cup knockout tie.
The Real Madrid team didn't include star players such as Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, but coach Manuel Pellegrini had over 120 million euros worth of talent on the pitch against a side that has a yearly total budget of around 1 million euros.
The half time break of that game save an alleged argument between the coach and midfielder Guti, who has beeb left out of the squad for the return game. It will be the fourth consecutive match Guti has witnessed from the stands.
Real Madrid has to win 5-0 to qualify for the next round and although 4-0 after 90 minutes would take the game into extra time, an Alcorcon goal would leave Madrid needing to score six times because of the away goals rule.
Pellegrini's side have improved in recent matches, beating Getafe 2-0 and winning 3-2 in the Vicente Calderon against Atletico on Saturday night.
Real also took a creditable 1-1 draw away to AC Milan in the San Siro Stadium, however, failure to reach the last 16 of the Kings Cup would leave Pellegrini's credibility severely damaged once again.
"We have to qualify because of our history, tradition and out pride," Real Madrid midfielder Kaka told Diario AS.
The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will be packed for Tuesday match and Alcorcon will be cheered on by around 10,000 travelling fans in what could be the greatest night in the club's history - and the most embarrassing in Real Madrid's.
