The Brazilian midfielder who plays for the German team of Schalke 04, Rafinha, revealed on Sunday his plans of scheduling a charity soccer game in Brazil during his holiday vacations.
The footballer is putting together an all-star soccer match in his home city of Londrina, Parana.
Celebrating Londrina's 75th-year anniversary, Rafinha is the architect of the charity game that will be held on December 21 at the Cafe stadium.
"It's always great to return to Brazil. It's even better to be able to hang out with some old friends. Being able to do both things and helping those who are less fortunate is wonderful. I amhappy and anxious for the game to take place. We are going to put together a huge celebration for my native city by way of a great sporting event," said Rafinha.
The charity game will benefit impoverished families and orphans. Fans will need to donate 1 kilo of non-perishable food in order to watch the game.
Players that have already been confirmed for the charity match are Rafinha (Schalke 04); Elber, Paulo Miranda, Jardel, Diego Souza (Palmeiras); Diego Tardelli (Atletico-MG); Miranda (Sao Paulo); Leo (Gremio); Kleberson (Flamengo); Jadson, Fernandinho, William e Ilsinho (Shaktar); Fabio e Henrique (Cruzeiro); Cayubi (Duisburg); Vagner, Douglas e Gladstone (Nautico); Renato (Botafogo), Diogo e Alan (Fluminense); Carlos Alberto (Vasco); Tadeu (ex-player of Londrina); Vandinho (Sport); Indio (Internacional) and Renan (Atletico-PR).
