Paraguayan soccer player Cabana fatally shot in Mexico

Paraguayan forward Salvador Cabanas, player of the Paraguayan soccer national teams, was fatally shot in his head in a bar of Mexico City, local press said on Monday.
According to the first reports of the Police, Cabanas, 29, player of Mexican club America, was taken to a hospital in the south of Mexico City and he is receiving medical assistance at the emergency room.
Mexico City's Justice Prosecutor, Miguel Angel Mancera told on Monday local TV news show Primero Noticias, that "when the ambulance arrived for Cabanas, he was conscious, he had a heart problem, and the paramedical tried to stabilize him."
"We do not know yet what happened, if it was a robbery or a fight, but we have two witnesses," Mancera added.
Mancera said that a bullet shoot Cabanas' head, "the first medical report said that the bullet entered in front of his head, but it did not come out, so it is still in his head."
According to some witnesses, Cabanas was shot during a fight in a bar in the south of Mexico City at 5:40 a.m. local time.
Meanwhile, club America's president Michel Bauer also told Primero Noticias that Cabanas suffered a robbery attempt, "he entered the rest room and he was attacked, that is what his wife said."
Cabanas was becoming one of the most outstanding soccer player of Paraguayan soccer, in 2007 and 2008 he won the title of the maximum goal maker at the Libertadores Cup.
In 2007, the Uruguayan daily "El Pais" chose him as the best player of the Americas.
