Corinthians beat Linense 2-0 in Brazilian soccer championship

Corinthians eased to a 2-0 victory against Linense on road Saturday to reclaim the top spot in the Sao Paulo state championship.

Corinthians' first goal came in the 35th minute when Alessandro's cross was mistakenly headed in their own net.

The visitors sealed victory when Liedson headed in a cross from Morais in the 65th minute, his eighth goal in this year's state championship. Liedson is tied for the most goalscorer with Santos' Elano.

After 11 rounds of play, Corinthians has 25 points, replacing Mirassol (23 points) on the top ranking, after the latter was held 2-2 on Friday with Noroest.

Also on Saturday, Sao Paulo defeated Sao Caetano 2-0, Santos beat Oeste 2-0 while Palmeiras could not find a way to score and drew 0-0 with Santo Andre.
