One day after being named Brazil's best athlete of 2008, swimmer Cesar Cielo announced on Wednesday that he will focus on the 100 meters freestyle, with aim to dethrone Olympic winner Michael Phelps in the event.
"I will dedicate more attention to the 100 meters freestyle. I hope that I can better my time and better my color of medal. Phelps already announced that he will keep on working in the event and there will be a bunch of French swimmers, but I will do my best," said Cielo, who won the bronze medal in the Beijing Games.
"The 100 meters freestyle is going to be my focus," he added.
The Brazilian said he will go to the United States to train for the World Swimming Championship to be held in Rome.
