Japan's Junya Koga won the men's 100m backstroke gold in 52.26 seconds at the world swimming championships on Tuesday.

Germany's Helge Meeuw came second in 52.54 seconds and former world record holder Aschwin Wildeboer Faber of Spain was third in 52.64.
