Tsewang Rinzin, the president of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), has openly advocated internationally that "Tibetan resistance movement shall adopt violent suicide measures to proceed…" and his naked nature of violence is thus again unmasked totally.

What kind of organization is TYC and what relationship it has with the Dalai clique? In a recent interview with reporters, some Tibetologists said TYC, has, ever since its founding, taken "Tibetan independence" as its sole aim and become the shock force or a pawn of the Dalai clique.

TYC is founded originally to serve "Tibetan independence"

TYC is formed with the chief purpose of training reserved forces for the cause of "Tibetan independence".

Some young people among the "Tibetan exiles" began to feel boring with a tendency for a dissipated life and a few of them even lost their interest in the Tibetan culture and Tibetan robes in the early 70s of the last century, Tibetologists recalled. Under such circumstances, TYC was formed in India in 1970 under the blessing of the Dalai Lama.

Dalai Lama and principal members of the Tibetan government in exile attended the meeting to form TYC, and incited Tibetans to pluck up the "resolve and courage" to pursue the goal for "Tibet independence".

After the its formation, TYC soon set up its branches in leading communities of Tibetan exiles in south Asia and Europe and, owing to a period of rapid propagation after the 1980s, it now has 81 regional branches in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Britain, Norway, Canada and the United States.

At present, more than 80 percent of the employees of "the government in exile" are TYC members, who have kept up joining the "government in exile" from the 1980s. After the Dalai Lama introduced the so-called "democratic election' of "high officials" in the 1990s, TYC core members assumed a lot of vital posts in the "government in exile" and began to directly involve in the management of political affairs of Tibetan exiles. By 1993, six out of the seven "high officials" of the "government in exile" came from the TYC.

TYC has organized many activities for the cause of "Tibetan independence", as it represents its main objective. The most typical is an annual protest staged on March 10 each year against the Chinese government, which has never ceased since its founding in the 1970s, including violent attacks against Chinese embassies and consulates overseas, sits-in and hunger strikes, etc.

Character of violence increasingly protruding

Ever since its birth, TYC has continuously created violence and terrorist activities, and for this end, it said in its so-called "declaration" of violence that it would take whatever means at whatever costs, including violent actions, according to Tibetologists. In 2002, the former president of TYC called on its members to take up arms for struggles, and his preceding presidents and secretary generals of TYC also repeatedly claimed that armed struggles and the use of violence represent the "only way" for Tibetans to achieve its complete independence.

In fact, TYC laid bare its true features for violence and terrorism during the Bhutan incident of 1974. The Dalai clique, in a bid to turn Bhutan as a forward battleground for counterattacks against Tibet, plotted the scheme to topple the Bhutan government, and when a gang of Dalai clique was amid in preparations to set fire to the palace and assassinate its king, they were caught by the Bhutan police with 28 suspects detained.

TYC had involved itself directly in the Lhasa riots of 1987, 1988 and 1989, added Tibetologists. In March this year, TYC is right behind the riots, or such violent actions as beating, smashing, looting and arson in Lhasa and other ethic Tibetan areas, and attacks on 18 Chinese embassies and consulates overseas all have something to do with TYC.

In a meeting of the "central executive committee" in Dharamsala, India, on March 15, TYC passed a resolution to immediately organize guerrillas to secretly cross the China-Nepal border to carry out armed struggle and formulated plans on personnel, funds and arms purchase. Tsewang Rinzin, the TYC president, claimed that they could sacrifice at least additional 100 Tibetans to achieve a "thorough victory".

In a recent interview with the Milan-based Italian newspaper, Corriere Della Sera, Tsewang Rinzin voiced stunning words that left people gasping with awe and bewilderment. For the cause of "Tibetan independence", he said, the use of human bomb for revenge is a direction of development.

TYC "sliding" from violence to terrorism

In a vain attempt to attain their aim of "Tibet independence", they have set up the military training ground in Dharamsala, India. Meanwhile, they have sent people to contact and seek "reciprocal" support from the relevant organization in Kashmir, the Tamil "tigers" in Sri Lanka, Al Qaeda, "East Turkistan" separatists in China's northwestern Xinjiang region, and other international terrorist organizations.

Moreover, TYC, through working in collaboration with anti-China forces in the United States and Britain, in recent years published "works" of Tibetan rebel ring leaders on their memoir of the armed rebellions in 1959 and made them into films and TV serials.

Furthermore, they set up military training bases for training in terrorist activities. TYC has opened military training ground in Dharamsala, India, and set up a "Tibetan Freedom fighters' association" for arms sabotage.

They have also worked hand in glove with other international terrorist organizations. They formed the "world ethnical status organization" via working in collusion with separatists outside the border in 1991. In January 1992, the Dalai clique sent its representatives to attend the organization's Astonia meeting and introduced the experience of TYC to the "East Turkistan" separatists and new separatists in the Xinjiang region, northwest China, which were both cited as terrorist organizations afterwards.

"Dual character" of Dalai clique

TYC's growth in strength is inseparable with the "inspiration" of the Dalai clique, whereas the latter's decisions are stamped with the brand of TYC.

The relations between Dalai clique and TYC can be analyzed from two aspects: On the one side, TYC has faith and trust in the Dalai Lama as the leader and abide by his leadership and, on the other side, the Dalai Lama has persistently attended and addressed meetings of TYC and given it a strpmg support and encouragement ever since its founding. Dalai Lama himself said they have the common objective and, hence, their disparities are merely differences in tactics and methods.

Tibetologists acknowledged that TYC and Dalai Lama are well coordinated in their "division of work", namely, Dalai Lama and his government in exile serve as the official organ, whereas TYC as the non-government organization. The Dalai Lama stands for the so-called "a high degree of autonomy" and "non-violence" to obtain by cheating the support of the populace who are unaware of truth, while TYC and other Tibetan independence organizations on the other side have openly yelled ond taken actions to seek the so-called "Tibetan independence" via means of violence and even with bloodshed.

Terrorist organizations and terrorism pose the common enemy of all humanity. And the TYC, which has been moving from violence to terrorism, should be regarded as the common foe of the humanity, and a series of incidents and disruptive activities the Dalai clique has plotted or carried out both at home and overseas have made itself an unstable and unharmonious factor in Asia and the world at large.

Of course, said the Tibetologists, we should distinguish the extremely small handful of core elements and the vast majority of the 30,000 TYC members as most members do not stand for violent actions. If the Dalai Lama sincerely wants to improve relations with the central authority, he should abandon the stance of "Tibetan independence", stop the moves to separate the motherland, effectively halt the activities of TYC and denounce its terrorist threats, the experts said.
