For 60 years, the new China cultural reconstruction has achieved remarkable progress in strengthening Chinese nation's cohesive force enormously, cultivating and promoting Chinese national spirit, upgrading the ideological and ethical standards as well as the scientific and cultural qualities of the entire people, forming a nationwide recognized socialist core value system, and thus satisfying and enriching all people's spirit and cultural life. By far, the soft power of culture has become an important part of the comprehensive national strength. The modern Chinese people are composing a new gorgeous chapter of Chinese culture with an upward spirited posture and an unprecedented creative passion.

As far as the President of London Olympic Organizing Committee Sebastian Coe is concerned, there was an unforgettable incident during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. During the games period, Coe visited the Forbidden City with his two sons, and the younger one's feet was blistered by his new shoes. When seen by a Chinese mother, she put her band-aid on his son's feet. Coe said, "This small thing made me feel that it was an absolutely right choice to give the 2008 Olympic Games holding rights to Beijing."
The establishment of New China in 1949 was a significant turning point. For 60 years, the prominent fruition of our culture construction is cultivating and promoting our national spirit, which have tremendously enhanced our national pride and increased the cohesiveness of the Chinese nation. The American sinologist John King Fairbank writes in an article entitled "The New China and Her Relations with US ", "Today the new China's primary feature is unity. There is no other group in history that has been able to unite 750,000,000 Chinese people together as a political unit." "The unity of 1/5 world population is one of the greatest achievements in our modern humanity."
In a history of more than 5,000 years, the Chinese nation has developed a great national spirit centering on patriotism and featuring unity and solidarity, love of peace, industry, courage and ceaseless pursuit of self-improvement. The great practice of New China's construction was just like a giant furnace which further exercised this spirit and carried on an connotation of the new age. The sprits of Iron man, Lei Feng; the two bombs plus one satellite, women's volleyball, flood-fighting, manned space program....are precious wealth of the Chinese nation, and they have displayed the new heights that the Chinese people achieved in their spiritual field with their distinct characteristic of times. Along with the deepening of reform and opening up, there is diversification among modern Chinese people in terms of income distribution, life styles and ideologies, however, the whole nation remains united as a whole, thanks to the socialist core value system that has formed and weathered the winds and rains of the past 60 years, serving New China as an "adhesive".
There were no other things that can better display the spirits of modern Chinese people in 2008: one is the earthquake relief campaign and the other, Beijing Olympic Games. A foreign media commented that, "The excellent performance of Chinese people has showed the progress of Chinese social civilization and the upgrade of its civilian value orientation…A country can not be defeated because it can mobilize over 100 000 rescue staff, collect more than 10 billion yuan of donations from enterprises and individuals, and witness long queues for volunteers rushing to donate blood and rescuing wounded people.
