External economic, trade ties go on expanding
China has actively extended its all-round, overseas economic and trade relations since the beginning of 2007, with emphases being placed on its dialogue and coordination with key trade partners.
China National Exhibition, a substantial content of the Year of Russia has been held successfully. The talks for the "China-EU trade and economic cooperation agreement" has formerly started and the second Sino-US strategic economic dialogue held, and the China-Japan high-level economic dialogue mechanism has been launched.
Economic and trade ties with the developing nations have been enhanced, too. Since early 2007, China has started some 40 new aid projects for developing nations, provided 30 batches of goods and materials, and trained a total of 4,197 professionals of various types.
Various economic and trade measures set forth during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in November 2006 are being implemented. The foundation of the African Union International Convention Center was laid on May 25. China has undertaken the construction of 100 rural elementary schools, 30 hospitals and 20 malaria-control clinics and 10 agro-techniques demonstrations in Africa.
Furthermore, free trade zone construction is under way, the China-ASEAN free trade zone service trade agreement has been signed, and negotiations on the China-Chilean free trade zone service trade and investment been promoted steadily.
