Foreign trade expansion spurs economic growth
The rapid expansion of foreign trade has contributed tremendously for the promotion of economic growth, accelerating the upgrading of industries, expanding employment and increasing tax revenue, thus guaranteeing the all-round building of a well-off and harmonious society.
At present, China has been employing more than 80 million job seekers in its foreign trade sphere. Its processing trade sector has hired close to 40 million people, chiefly farmer-turned workers. Foreign funded firms in the country have absorbed approximately 28 million laborers, or a 10-plus percent of those employed in towns and cities nationwide, and the country's external economic and trade organizations have also resolved the issue of employment for more than one million people.
To further raise level in opening-up
Overall situation in China's external economic and trade is good, acknowledged a MOC official, but there still exist some contradictions and problems, and the most conspicuous one is the issue relating to the over-excessive trade surplus, which calls for ways and means to cope with and alleviate.
As the reform and opening to the outside world represents a national policy, added the MOC official, the work in some ensuring aspects has to beef up in the second half of the year in view of the new situation and new problems:
Among others, the transfer of the mode of growth in foreign trade is to be hastened, greater efforts to be made for the better implementation of various policies for a balanced trade, service trade to be spurred, the mix of foreign assets to be optimized and the outbound investment cooperation to be increased steadily and orderly and the environment for foreign economic and trade continues to be improved.
