Whether the topic is last year''s Beijing Olympic Games or the current international financial crisis, as a pillar of global strategic stability and a highly efficient engine driving international economic development, a China full of hope and charisma is always the center of discussion.
When people talk of China as charismatic, they wish to solve the mystery of China''s rapid development. Latest reports from all over the world show that whether from developed countries in Europe and America or from developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, government officials, experts and scholars, executives and business leaders all repeatedly refer to the "China model" whenever they talk about China''s charisma, and are fascinated by the concept.
The term "China model" is the "patent" of foreign scholars, referring to international praise for China and an urgent desire to understand the country.
Why has the world become interested in exploring the "China model?" The "China model" has created miracles, opened a unique path of development and superseded the belief in a superior "America model," marking its demise.
The tremendous achievements made by China''s reform and opening-up over the past 30 years have amazed the entire world. From Vietnam to Brazil, Moscow to Brussels, the North American prairies to the African grasslands, people everywhere are talking about a prosperous China, and marveling at the country''s rapid rise and its bright development prospects.
The western media reported that China became the world''s third largest economy while western countries were napping. Half the Chinese population is no longer poverty-stricken. They admitted that the miracle China has created has dealt a severe blow to the statement that the "''America model'' is superior to any other," asserted by the famous American political scientist Francis Fukuyama in 1989 in his book The End of History.
Many western scholars have pointed out that in the process of learning from other countries'' development models, China has not only found a path of independent development, but also provided a model for other countries to imitate to strengthen themselves and enrich their people. The “China model” may become even more attractive than its western equivalent because the arrogant latter has paused, according to Wetzel, a German sociologist.
International observers believe that the "China model" means political stability, something which has a powerful appeal to governments and people in any country. South Korean scholars have said that China''s experience is worth learning from. The idea that economic growth should be ensured by political stability is in line with the psychological characteristics of people in Asia.
A survey on a foreign website shows that the phrases most frequently used to describe the "China model" are reform, opening-up, development, gradual progress, experimental and stability. Netizens who participated in the survey said that the "China model" is characterized by strong government-orientation, steady reform, opening-up to the outside world and domestic transformation.
