Japanese media reported that as far as other countries are concerned, some of the key elements of the "China model," which has been highly praised by the international community, not only suit the conditions of developing Asian countries, but would also be valuable to developed countries in Europe and America.
The desire to discover the secret of rapid economic growth is an important reason why people are enthusiastic about studying the "China model." Since the "China model" implies rapid economic growth, who would not want to learn the secret of this new development model? The Straits Times of Singapore noted in an article entitled "Success of the Chinese Model" that thanks to China's success and economic rise; people have put forward the "China model" as a substitute for the Washington Consensus.
China's high economic growth is the envy of all countries at various stages of development. Poor nations hope to catch up with their rich counterparts and become wealthy, while rich nations wish to maintain their lead. They therefore all wish to discover the secret of China's rapid economic growth.
Russian scholars have admitted frankly that the "China model" is a source of political inspiration for Russian leaders and has boosted the hopes of the Russian people of a second rise. Analysts believe that politicians from all countries in the world have noticed the increasingly important role that a "new China-style diplomatic concept" is playing in the "China model."
In foreign relations, China never politicizes economic issues, makes empty threats, or forms a small clique and confederate with others, instead always considers the feelings of citizens of other countries as far as possible. With the international arena accustomed to the Cold War mentality, China's sober and pragmatic diplomatic style with Confucian features is a breath of fresh air.
China has effectively used its diplomacy to make other countries recognize its development and believe that its growth is not a challenge but a rare opportunity, said Jonathan Holslag, head of research at the Brussels Institute of Contemporary China Studies (BICCS).
The "China model" has charmed the world, because its significance and impact will influence which direction the world's future takes and how. Long ago, German scholar Berthold said that western capitalism would gradually reveal its inefficiency and inability to solve increasingly severe global issues such as the deterioration of the environment. Is this also a reason why people all over the world are fascinated by the "China model?"
