File photos of the three volunteers

Mr. Mahamat Adam, from Cameroon, a Project Officer with China-Africa Business Council, UNV. The photo shows Mr. Adam speaks at the first Forum on Chinese Investments in Africa in Beijing on May 22, 2006. Mr. Adam Planned and held the Forum. In 2004 he founded Africaccess Consulting Company Limited, a Sino-African trade and investment consulting company based in Beijing, and acted as chairman and CEO since then till October, 2006 when he became a UN volunteer. In 2002, he got his master's degree for electric power system and automation engineering at Northern Jiaotong University in Beijing.

Miss Beatrice Targa, from Italy, UNV Intern for Support to Protection of the Rights of Children and Women. Miss Targa is a MSc in Political Economy of Development, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. She is now enrolled in the postgraduate program "Advanced Development Economics".

Miss Liang Suhui, one of the ten winners of Beijing's "Volunteers of the year 2006", shares her volunteer experience with Tsinghua University students on April 12, 2007. She is a Ph.D. Student of the Department of Material Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University. She has been served as a volunteer for six years, both in China and outside the country.

Why did they choose to be volunteers? Adam and Targa are working as international volunteers in China and Liang has the experience of working in Doha as a volunteer, what challenges do they have to face? Are there any difference among volunteer service and internship and paid work? What makes a qualified volunteer? What do they value the most in their experience as volunteers? We are happy to have them at our studio and share with us their experiences and understanding of volunteerism.
