Background
China-EU reach trade consensus
The 23rd China-EU Joint Economic and Trade Committee is co-chaired by Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming and European Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson in Beijing on Sept. 25. It leads to 23 items of consensus which will mean more trade and investment opportunities in goods and services for Chinese and European businesses.
The meeting takes place when the world economy is overshadowed by the international financial risks triggered by the US financial crisis. Both China and EU, like other economies in the world, are trying to contain the inflation and seek for more business opportunities to weather the difficulty. Their economic outlook and trade relations have significant global implications.
As major trading partners to each other and key economic players in the world, how can China and EU manage to converge their interests and address their concerns in the complicated global context full of uncertainties?
