India's state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has entered into a joint venture with Canada's CAE Inc. for a 55-million U.S. dollars pilot training school in a southern Indian state, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported Thursday.
"We have entered into a joint venture with CAE of Canada. The pilot training school will be operational in September next year," PTI quoted HAL chairman Ashok K Baweja as telling reporters in Bangalore.
The school will primarily train pilots of Indian-made advanced light helicopter Dhruv, he said, adding that it will also take up turn-key training programs for pilots of other helicopters.
CAE Inc. is a world leader in providing simulation and modeling technologies and integrated training solutions for the civil aviation industry and defense forces. Its annual revenues exceed one billion Canadian dollars.
Baweja said HAL also planned to build a factory to make multi- role combat jets and to float a separate business unit.
