Two Chinese sued three companies on November 11, including US-based Apple, claiming that its iPod Series infringed upon their invention's patent.
The Wuhan Intermediate People's Court opened a public court session for the case on the same day.
Two Chinese, Cai Yaohua and Chen Shaohua who are now living in Beijing, are patent holders of a type of intelligent audio server.
They applied for the patent in 1996 and it was granted in 2002. It is still valid.
Cai and Chen believe that their patent is the basic patent for other modern products such as MP3s and MP4s.
They think that the iPod Series sold by Apple, Apple Computer Trading (Shanghai) and Wuhan COODOO Trading Company has infringed on their patent.
