Microsoft founder Bill Gates recently predicted that in the next five years there will be significant changes in the way humans and machines interact, and the mouse and keyboard will be replaced by more intuitive and natural technology.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation Website, on January 7th, Gates answered questions from this website's users, and said that in the next five years, touch, visual and voice interfaces will become more important – namely "natural user interface." He said: "We will increase touch and direct control functions, and add visual technology which enables a computer to 'see' and understand what you do. At the same time, we will increase voice and writing functions."

Gates also demonstrated Microsoft's newly developed touch PC desktop, which looks like a multi-function desktop. Gates said in the next five years, people will use the touch interface to view photos, listen to music, and arrange their daily lives.

Although Microsoft's Windows operating system has been successful in the market, Gates admitted that Microsoft has made mistakes. "We launched the Web browser relatively late, and our search engine does not meet the expectations of our users."
