Microsoft has finally announced the long-anticipated price drop for the standard 20GB Xbox 360, bringing it down by 50 U.S. dollars to 300 dollars, according to media reports Monday.
Also, the new 60GB Xbox 360, identical to the 20GB version but triple the storage, is due for launch next month and priced at 350 dollars.
"We know consumers need more and more space to store the amazing digital content Xbox 360 offers, and we're giving it to them at no extra charge," said Albert Penello, Xbox director of product management at Microsoft.
"No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver, and now you'll have three times the storage to manage all that great content," said Penello.
Its competitors Nintendo and Sony have shown no signs of price drop currently.
