HP will recall about 15000 laptop batteries for fear of fire risk in China. HP series laptops and HP Pavilion, Compaq Presario and HP Campaq, produced between August 2007 and January 2008, are involved in this recall.

Due to defective production, batteries may get overheated, melting the shell of laptops or even catching fire.

China HP will offer a free replacement service. Users can log on to http://www.hp.com/support/BatteryReplacement, or call HP's free consulting service hotline on 800-810-3888 or 400-610-3888. Besides, users can also log on to the website of the Defective Product Administrative Center of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, www.dpac.gov.cn, or call the center's hotline on 010-59799616 to get detailed information.
