Apple Inc. on Monday unveiled an updated iPhone with faster speed as well as other new features including autofocus camera, video recording, voice control and built-in digital compass.

The new iPhone 3G S will be available in the United States on June 19 at the price of 199 U.S. dollars for the 16GB model and 299 dollars for the 32GB model, Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, announced in a keynote speech at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference held in San Francisco.

"This is the most powerful, fastest iPhone we ever made. What's inside is entirely new, this is a really fast iPhone," Schiller said.

According to a press release by Apple, the new iPhone 3G S will be available in more than 80 countries and regions in the coming weeks.

The company also announced that beginning from Monday, the price of its current 8 GB model of iPhone 3G will be reduced to 99 dollars.
