Special tunnel for Shanghai World Expo gets through

On August 20, after the digging across the Huangpu River connected into the prepared hole at Puxi, the special massive shield-like tunnel for the Shanghai World Expo made it across the entire line. The Xizang Road S. Tunnel, linking the Puxi and Pudong zones of the 2010 World Expo, is built by officials of the Shanghai No. 2 Engineering Co.

It is said the Xizang Road S. Tunnel, as the only special tunnel for the Shanghai World Expo, is approximately 2.67 km in length, and 1.117 km below the River. The main track begins at the corner of Xizang Road S. and Zhongshan Road S, goes straight southeast and crosses the Huangpu River and connects with the corner of Pudong Road E. and High-tech Road W.
