High schools and elementary schools in Changchun, Jilin Province, recently held a launch ceremony for the Life Education Textbook, marking the official beginning of life education courses at these schools.
It is learnt that the course will be scheduled for one hour every two weeks in all high schools and elementary schools in the city from first to ninth grade.
The Life Education Textbook incorporates domestic and foreign scientific research in life education. Using simple terms, it explains various dangers that are likely to be encountered in daily life such as natural disasters, fires, household accidents, safety accidents on campus and unlawful behavior to students, and teach them how to deal with the dangers.
Real case studies and illustrated cartoons are specially added in the textbook to make it easy to understand and remember. The textbook is compiled by experts under the leadership of the education department in Changchun and will be given to students for free.
