- A top university of the United States has opened a digital sciences research center in Singapore, the Singapore government said on Thursday.

According to a statement released on the government's official website, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois)has opened the Advanced Digital Sciences Center at Singapore's Fusionopolis, the country's science and technology hub.

The center is said to be the first research center set up by the university outside the United States, and is expected to raise Singapore's position as a hub for cutting-edge research in interactive and digital Media.

The statement said the first project is called Human Sixth Sense Program, which aims to overcome existing limitations of information being underutilized.

The program will provide users "only with information relevant to them, delivered in a high-resolution, multimedia format on any device, anytime and anywhere, and across a secure setting."

Other research projects planned include media technologies, robotics, energy programs and bioinformation.
