The "China Engineering Science and Technology" symposia was held by Chinese Academy of Engineering on September 21. State Supreme Science and Technology Award winners Jin Yilian, Wang Yongzhi, as well as Sun Yongfu, Lu Youmei and other academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, reviewed and summed up the 60-year development of China's Engineering Science and Technology.
Xu Kuangdi, president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) said that since the founding of New China, China has built a relatively complete industrial system, and a series of major projects have been completed and played an important role. All this owe thanks to the engineering technology development and its strong supporting. Engineering Science and Technology development is the basis for a country's survival and competitiveness.
He said, although the engineering science and technology have made remarkable achievements, we must also see the severe challenges, including the innovation ability of the engineering science and technology need to be improved, innovative engineering science and technical personnel training to be strengthened, scientific and technological system requires further refinement, and our country also face increasingly international competition during these fields. We should full hold the variety of opportunities that is conducive to the engineering science and technology development.
