A total of 1,141 Thai children have caught hand foot mouth disease during the first six months this year, the country's Public Health Ministry announced on Monday. The victims broke down to 399 in southern provinces, 371 in central provinces, 187 in northeastern provinces and 184 in northern provinces, according to a bulletin of the ministry. The number included 191 children in Bangkok, local news network The Nation reported. Doctor Prat Boonyawongwiroj, permanent secretary for Public Health, said the number of victims of the disease was nearly two times higher than that of the same period last year.
