Malaysia's Putrajaya flower and garden festival, known as "Putrajaya Floria", is to become an annual affair and included in the tourism calendar, Federal Territories Minister Zulhasnan Rafique said on Friday.
He expressed hope that the festival would attract many visitors, place Putrajaya on the international tourism map and be on par with the Chelsea and Melbourne flower shows. To run from Aug. 25 to Sept. 2 at the Lakefront area in Putrajaya, the administrative center of Malaysia, the event is organized in conjunction with the 50th independence celebrations and the 44th International Federation of Landscape Architects World Congress, the national news agency Bernama reported. Malaysian Prime Minister Auk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was expected to open Putrajaya Floria which would feature elements of the landscape and flower industry, he added.
