Norwegian Food and Agriculture Minister Terje Riis-Johansen has issued a list of precautions to take, after foot-and-mouth disease was confirmed on a farm in Great Britain, said reports reaching here from Oslo on Sunday.
Persons who have visited Britain, should not come into contact with farm animals in Norway, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reported.
"One should not bring dairy or meat products from Great Britain to Norway," said acting director of the Norwegian Food Inspectorate,Brynjulf Melhus.
"Norwegians should definitely not come directly from British farm environments, without first having changed clothes, showered well and then waited for a few days," Melhus was quoted as saying.
The strain of foot-and-mouth disease found at the Surrey farm is identical to that used at the Institute for Animal Health, at Pirbright, about three miles from the farm, BBC reported.
The strain is not one normally found in animals but is used in vaccine production and in diagnostic laboratories, according to BBC.
