At least six persons died due to diarrhea that has spread in the villages of Achham and Kailali districts in far-west Nepal in the last couple of days, The Kathmandu Post reported on Tuesday.
According to District Public Health Office (DPHO) Achham, three persons fell prey to the epidemic-turned disease in Balata village while two others died in Turmakha village of Achham, some 330 km west of Kathmandu in the last five days.
DPHO, however, claimed it has sent separate teams of doctors with necessary medicine to diarrhea affected areas.
The district hospital has also been packed by such patients for the past two weeks, according to the daily.
Similarly, one person at Tikapur of Kailali district, some 470 km west of Kathmandu, died due to diarrhea on Monday.
According to the daily, over 70 others in the area have become ill.
Many others have been affected by fever, headache and stomach- ache, along with diarrhea.
According to a source at Tikapur Hospital in the district, over 100 persons with such ailments have come to the hospital in the last few days.
