At least 36 people died of tuberculosis during the first half of this year in Angola's southern province of Huila, a health official said on Saturday.
Th first half of 2007 also witnessed 2,198 new cases of tuberculosis, increasing the number of tuberculosis patients to 4, 562, said Pedro Gaspar, supervisor of the Program of Combat of Tuberculosis of the Public Health Department and Control of Endemics in the province.
The province recorded a total of 311 relapses and 55 re- emergence of the disease in the period, he added.
