The broadcast of radio program jointly produced by the United Nation's Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) and Nepal's public broadcaster Radio Nepal began Monday.
According to a press statement issued by the UNMIN on Monday, the 15-minute magazine-style twice weekly radio program (UNMIN ko Boli) will be made available to all radio networks and stations in Nepal.
"The aim of the program is to reach out to communities across the country to increase awareness about what UNMIN and the United Nation's (UN) Country Team is doing to support Nepal's peace process. We hope that this will help build confidence in the process, especially in the lead-up to the Constituent Assembly (CA) election," said Kieran Dwyer, head of the UNMIN's public information team.
The statement added that early programs will focus on clarifying the mandate and activities of the UNMIN in support of peace process, especially the monitoring of arms and armed personnel and technical support to the Election Commission in preparations for the conduct of the CA election.
The program will go to air in the Nepali language initially and within weeks it will also be broadcast in five other ethnic Nepali languages, the UNMIN's press statement added.
