At least 13 people have died after drinking spurious liquor in Janakpur in central Nepal in the last three days, local media reported on Saturday.
According to a leading website, nepalnews.com, three people including a woman, who had fallen sick after consuming the booze bought from a local distillery, died Saturday while one person had died Friday night.
Reports said three others have been admitted at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital, some 120 km south-east of Kathmandu, for treatment and are said to be in a critical condition.
As many as nine deaths were reported on Thursday and Friday. The villagers had bought the liquor made of rice and millet from a local distillery.
Laboratory tests have showed heavy contamination of chemical fertilizer in the liquor.
According to reports, police have arrested five persons in connection with brewing and selling spurious liquor.
