From midnight Saturday Britain eased transportation restrictions to allow farmers to take livestock directly to slaughter while the government retains control over the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.
The relaxation was the first since the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease detected on Wednesday near Egham, just 15 km from laboratories linked to the previous outbreak in August.
But the relaxation will only apply to livestock outside the 10-km surveillance zone around the two most recent cases, said the government.
The government on Saturday also ordered the culling of pigs on a farm located near the two latest outbreak cases.
It said a second case detected on Friday was the same strain as found at the previous three outbreak locations.
Foot and mouth, a highly infectious disease that can spread on the wind, can cause animals to foam at the mouth, collapse and is sometimes fatal.
An investigation into the August outbreak highlighted biosecurity breaches at a nearby laboratory.
