Czech doctors performed three unique operations of varicose veins on Wednesday, using a new, almost bloodless method that is carried out only in Britain and the United States, the Pravo daily reported on Thursday.
According to the paper, the original methods are much more drastic. The varicose veins are usually "torn out" of the body and the patients need three to four weeks to recover.
The new method used a radiofrequency device of new generation, the paper said.
"A one-meter long special catheter is inserted into the vein. It warms up the vein until it is baked and later absorbed," the paper quotes surgeon Jaroslav Kliment as saying.
"The patients do not have such huge bruises as they do after the usual operation ...and are able to leave the hospital the following day," Kliment said.
