The European Commission on Tuesday added new sites to its biodiversity protection lists in new member states and updated existing lists in other regions.
The commission adopted an initial list of sites in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia in the so-called Pannonian bio-geographical region.
It also updated the existing lists in the Atlantic, Boreal and Continental bio-geographical regions.

The commission, the executive body of the European Union (EU),is due to update the protection lists for the Alpine and the Macaronesian biogeographical regions later this year and the list for the Mediterranean biogeographical region in January 2008.
