Rescuers found the body of a missing miner trapped in an iron ore mine early Wednesday in east China's Anhui Province.

The miner of the Yangchong iron mine in Fanchang County, of Wuhu City, was found dead, according to rescuers.

The cave-in at the Yangchong mine happened at around 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 11 when falling rocks and mud blocked access to the shaft, trapping seven miners.

Six of the trapped miners were rescued on Sunday after being trapped underground for more than 110 hours. They were taken straight to hospital.

Most of the miners, aged 29 to 55, were local villagers, said an official of the Anhui Provincial Work Safety Administration.

The owner of the mine, Wang Yuanfa, is in police custody.

The privately-owned iron ore mine was built in 1987. It was renovated this year with a designed annual output of 30,000 tons.
