Tornado ripped through two villages in Mindoro Oriental province in central Philippines, damaging at least 50 houses, reported local television network GMA News on Sunday.

No casualty has been reported after tornado passed through Saturday night Cawayan and Sagana villages in Bongabong town in Mindoro Oriental, where some electric posts were also knocked downby heavy wind, said the report.

Flash floods and landslides could occur in Southern and CentralLuzon due to a low-pressure area which became active this weekend, said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday.

The affected families have sought refuge at a local church or houses of relatives, while disaster coordinating council and other local authorities are sending relief goods for them, said the report.
