Hong Kong confirms another imported case of dengue fever |

Hong Kong Center for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health urged members of the public on Monday to guard against dengue fever following the confirmation of an imported case by laboratory test.
The case involved a 55-year-old woman living in North Point of Hong Kong Island, a press release from the center said. She developed symptoms of dengue fever including headache and rashes over her body on Feb. 13. She was subsequently admitted to a private hospital on Hong Kong Island on Feb. 20 and discharged Monday in stable condition.
CHP's investigations revealed that she had traveled to Thailand between Feb. 5 and 11. A family member went to Thailand with her did not have any symptoms of dengue fever, the press release said.
This is the seventh imported case of dengue fever reported so far this year in Hong Kong. There were 58 cases in Hong Kong in 2007 and all of them are classified as imported cases.
The disease is manifested by a sudden onset of fever with flu- like symptoms of muscle and joint pains and severe headache. The patient's skin also develops bright red rashes, which initially appears on lower limbs and chest. Source: Xinhua
