China's central budget will allocate 200 million yuan to museums so that they may offer free admission, said Zhou Heping, vice-minister of the Ministry of Culture, at the press on public culture services held at the Press Center on March 13, 2008.

China's State Cultural Relics Bureau recently sent six teams to evaluate the museums that offer and will offer free admission. Six hundred museums are expected to offer free admission before April 1 this year; and 800 more will offer free admission next year. Zhang Bo, deputy director of State Cultural Relics Bureau said that 1,400 public museums will offer free admission in the next two years.
