At present, the growth of China's milk production occupies more than half of the world's milk production. China has become the world's third largest milk producing country. In 2007, there were 14.7 million milch cows in China, up 7.8 percent over 2006; and with a total milk yield of 36.5 million tons, up 10.5 percent over 2006.
China's milch cow industry has began to shift from extraordinary growth to normal growth. China's modern dairy industry development has stepped over this threshold of standardization, said Liu Chengguo, president of the Dairy Association of China.
