At president, nearly 70,000 Beijing residents have registered to make emergency blood donations and become regular volunteer blood donors. They will provide blood for possible health outbreaks during the Beijing Olympics, according to the Beijing Red Cross Blood Center.

Earlier this year, the Blood Donation Office of Beijing and Beijing Red Cross Blood Center began to recruit a group of emergency volunteer blood donors in Beijing. They will enroll 100,000 volunteers with permanent residence, regular work and fixed address and contact information in Beijing.

By June 11, nearly 70,000 residents have signed up.
