According to Xinhua Net, on July 8 the 7th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Language Competition for college students in the world kicked off in Changsha.
Held by the Office of Chinese Language Council International, "Chinese Bridge" is an international competition for college students where Chinese learners from all over the world show their level of Chinese, as well as cultural knowledge and China expertise. "Chinese Bridge" has been held 6 times since 2002. Over 480 college students from more than 50 countries have been invited to China to compete in the finals; and more than 40,000 students from all over the world attended the preliminary competition.
During this year's "Chinese Bridge" contestants were eliminated during the semifinals; and the remaining had to contend for acceptance into the finals. Finally, the competition would award a special prize to 1 contestant, first prize to 2, second prize to 3, third prize to 14 and several won awards for an individual event. Winners will earn the title of "Chinese Language Ambassador" and a scholarship for study in China.
