The number of confirmed cases of Influenza A/H1N1 has risen to seven in New Zealand, the Ministry of Health said on Saturday.

Two Rangitoto College students, who returned from Mexico on April 25, were confirmed to have Influenza A/H1N1, Public Health Director Mark Jacobs said on Saturday. They have already been isolated and treated with Tamiflu, and are now well.

Probable cases dropped from 14 to 12 and suspected cases were down from 75 to 62.

The latest figures indicate 158 people in isolation or quarantine and being treated with Tamiflu, down from 278 on Friday, he said.

Numbers of suspected cases, and those receiving treatment and in isolation, will fluctuate when more suspected cases are found, or suspected cases are ruled out, he added.

Jacobs said there was no evidence of community transmission in New Zealand but continued vigilance would prevent the virus spreading.
