A hospital in Yunyang county, Chongqing municipality, paid a former patient 9,000 yuan ($1,318) in compensation after they left a metal nut in his body following an operation.

Surnamed Yang, the man broke his waist and had an operation in which doctors used screws to fix his broken bone. In 2007, Yang returned to the hospital to remove the plate but doctors left a nut in his body.

From then on, Yang felt pain in his waist and doctors later discovered the nut inside him.

The hospital operated at no cost to the man to remove the nut.

But Yang filed a lawsuit and the court ruled in his favor.
