Former CCTV (China Central Television) anchor Fang Hongjin has been released by authorities after being detained for one day for contract fraud, Legal Evening News reported.

Fang had been released on bail pending trial, after paying a 1.2 million yuan debt to Hualong Group based in north China's Hebei Province, according to an unnamed officer with the public security bureau of Xingtai City in Hebei.

The report revealed that the television star borrowed the money from Hualong but refused to pay it back and remained out of reach after the contract's deadline expired.

In a response to sina.com.cn, Fang said he did not not want to talk it any more, "just let it be, I am busy with other things right now."

48-year-old Fang began to work at CCTV in 1992. He co-founded the prime time news review program 'Focus' in 1995 and was co-anchor of the program. He joined Shanghai-based Dragon TV in 2003 but left three years later.
