Eighty films make to final of Chinese student film festival

A total of 80 films produced by students from more than 40 countries and regions are competing in the Beijing Film Academy's 8th International Student Film and Video Festival.
More than 700 films had applied to enter, said Zhang Huijun, president of the academy and the festival.
Sixty of the final films were made by foreign students and the rest were collected from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
Eight short films from Israel, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria were screened on Sunday's opening ceremony. They included fiction, documentary and animation.
The week-long festival is held annually since 2001. It was temporarily suspended in 2002 due to financial reasons.
