The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics and Beijing Survey Corps of the National Bureau of Statistics recently co-released a report saying that in 2007, urban residents in Beijing who got married spent 53,645 yuan per person, on their marriage.
In order to understand the marriage consumption of urban residents in Beijing, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics and Beijing survey Corps of the National Bureau of Statistics surveyed 764 urban households which had married between 2003 and July of 2007.
Results show that married people now heavily fall into the 25 to 30 age group; and baby boomers born in the 1980s are gradually approaching the legal age for marriage. As a result, marriage consumption is expected to grow more rapidly in the next few years.
