In order to increase rural consumption, the promotional work of the "Home Appliances to the Countryside Program" sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Finance has already been implemented in Shaanxi Province, and will be fully underway by December.
Home appliances included in the subsidized program cover four categories: color televisions, refrigerators (including chest freezers), cell phones and washing machines.
Farmers who buy home appliances will receive subsidies equivalent to 13% of the product sales price from the central and local finance. It is a positive attempt to boost domestic demand and promote changes in the mode of economic growth.
When the program is completely implemented in Shaanxi Province, it is expected to fuel rural consumption growth of home appliances by nearly 2.5 billion yuan every year.
