Five workers were buried under slag Monday at a cement plant in the capital city of southeast China's Fujian Province, officials said.

The five workers were cleaning up the slag when the waste collapsed and buried them at 7:15 p.m. in Taiwan-funded TCC Fuzhou Cement Co. Ltd. in Changle, Fuzhou.

Work safety authorities are investigating.
