Two friends ended up in court after one of them refused to repay a 10,000-yuan ($1,464) debt to the other.

Early last year, Zhang lent the money to Wang, a fellow resident of Miyun, Beijing. He didn't get an IOU because they had been friends for years.

To his dismay, Wang refused to pay back the money and cited the absence of an IOU.

Zhang decided to trick him into admitting he took the money and recorded their conversation secretly. He went to court and used the tape as evidence.

The court forced the man to repay the debt.
